At Long Ditton St Mary’s, we want pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to become confident, healthy, respectful and responsible members of their community and wider society.

Our Personal Development curriculum supports children to understand themselves and others, build positive relationships, make informed choices, appreciate difference and prepare for life in modern Britain.

PSHE & RSE

PSHE is taught progressively across the school, with Jigsaw PSHE used as a key resource to support our curriculum. Teachers adapt learning to meet the needs of their pupils and respond appropriately to issues within their classes, our school community and the wider world.

British Values

We actively promote the fundamental British Values of:

Democracy • Rule of Law • Individual Liberty • Mutual Respect • Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs

Children experience these values in meaningful ways through school life, including Pupil Parliament elections, pupil voice, leadership responsibilities, PSHE, RE, assemblies and opportunities to contribute to decisions within their school.

SMSC

Pupils' Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development is promoted across our curriculum and wider school life.

Children are encouraged to reflect, consider important moral questions, develop positive relationships, appreciate different cultures and beliefs and understand their place within their community and wider world.
