LDSM Alumni – Where Are They Now?
Our pupils' journey does not end when they leave Long Ditton St Mary's.
We love hearing from former pupils and finding out where life has taken them. As part of our Personal Development work, we are building our LDSM Alumni community to celebrate former pupils, inspire our current children and maintain connections with the school.
Our alumni are at many different stages of their journey - from making the move to secondary school, to college, university and beyond. By sharing their experiences, we hope to help our current pupils think positively about their futures, recognise the many different pathways open to them and learn from those who once sat in the same classrooms.
Hannah - left LDSM in 2015
Hannah has recently finished studying Psychology at Newcastle University. She achieved A* A* A at A Level and was particularly proud of scoring in the top 0.5% nationally in Psychology. One of her favourite LDSM memories is Sports Day, and her advice to current pupils is simple: “Believe in yourself!”
Miller – left LDSM in 2022
Miller is now at secondary school and has already completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. He remembers the Year 6 production particularly fondly and says: “LDSM helped me gain confidence in the learning environment in and out the classroom.” His advice to current pupils is: “Try your hardest in everything you do and you should not doubt that.
Sofia – left LDSM in 2025
Sofia is now at secondary school and is particularly proud of progressing to the next stage of the Maths Junior Olympiad. She remembers enjoying flute, English and French at LDSM. Her message for pupils preparing for secondary school is particularly useful: “Secondary school sounds terrifying – it really isn't.” She explains that the learning becomes gradually more challenging and reassures pupils that the transition isn't something they need to fear.
Edward – left LDSM in 2025
Edward is now at secondary school. He is particularly proud of how his involvement in Rock School and his band has taken him from LDSM onto bigger stages, while PGL Osmington Bay remains one of his favourite school memories. His advice for pupils moving on from LDSM is to be brave about the transition to secondary school and stay organised.
