Arundel's Sticky Science Separations!
We've been looking at the properties of solids, liquids and gases. Today, we learnt that, depending on how the particles of a liquid are arranged and how big they are, some liquids are more dense than others. This meant, when we poured three liquids into a glass together, they separated and stacked themselves!
Lots of us thought water would be the least dense of our liquids, but it turned out that oil was the least dense and sat on top, with syrup at the bottom.
Everyone observed very closely, especially when we stirred the mixture to see if would separate again.
Mr Hogan says the next lesson is all about chocolate. Between that and the golden syrup, our science lessons smell REALLY good!
